The invention relates to a peripheral protection casing for a machine of the type comprising at least one closure panel capable of occupying a high position for access to the machine and a low protection and working position. The manoeuvring mechanism comprises two perpendicular bars 13, 15 carrying the manoeuvring bar 11 articulated on a pin 12. The bar 15 is articulated on a fixed pin 16. A connecting rod 6 articulated on a pin 7 at one end carries the articulation 5 of the panel 3 and is subjected at its other end to a counterweight 10. The articulation pins 5, 7, 16, 12 substantially form a parallelogram. <IMAGE>
