Particulate material to be sprayed with the coating liq. pumped from a container (19) is loaded into a treatment chamber (5) having spiral baffles (4) on its interior wall. A motor-driven rotary disc (1) serves as a floor. The peripheral region of the disc (1) beyond a concentric truncated cone (2) is perforated to allow an up-draught from an underlying wind chamber (16) with an inlet damper (17). Four radial vanes (3) projecting from the slopes of the cone (2) stir the material into circular spiral motion from the edge towards the centre as it is lifted by the up-draught. USE/ADVANTAGE - In e.g. the pharmaceutical, fertiliser and food processing industries. Ensures uniformly thick and wear-resistant coating of e.g. tablets, granules or pellets.
