PURPOSE:To relieve the mechanical setting conditions of a developer coater and to sufficiently and stably execute the control of the thickness of a toner layer and the tribostatic charge application to a toner by providing a foamed intermediate material in the contact part of a developer coating member which is in contact with a developer carrier. CONSTITUTION:A photosensitive drum 1 as an electrostatic latent image carrier is rotationally driven in the direction A and the developer carrier 2 disposed to face the drum 1 is disposed in contact with or proximity to the drum and is rotationally driven in the direction B. The toner 4 in a developer container 5 is scraped in the arrow B direction by rotation of the carrier 2 and is carried to a nip part formed of the developer coating member 3 and the carrier 2. This coating member 3 is constituted of a supporting member 31 fixed at one end and the foamed intermediate material 33 provided between said member and a thin member 32 disposed at the free end. This member 31 is formed as an elastic member and the foamed intermediate member 33 is formed to >=0.5mm thickness. The degree of foaming is specified to >=30 pieces cells per 1 cubic cm. The thin member 32 is formed of one selected from a metallic plate, resin plate and rubber plate. |
