Method and apparatus for the opening of fibre rovings during the production of textile threads

During the loosening or opening of fibre rovings in the open-end spinning method, the fluctuation in linear density of the fibre roving affects the uniformity of the thread produced. The draw-in speed of the roving into the apparatus for opening the fibre roving is therefore controlled as a function of the linear density which is measured continuously. The measurement of the linear density is preferably carried out by measuring the thickness of the fibre roving in relation to a fixed width of the latter.
