PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data communication unit that is provided with a data communication function to realize mobile computing by means of a personal digital assistant(PDA) and a notebook personal computer, prevents occurrence of useless charging and suppresses power consumption. SOLUTION: The data communication unit is provided with an interface section 10 that transmits/receives an IP packet to/from an information processing unit, an IP processing section 2 that connects with a telephone line when receiving a communication request to an external network to apply relay processing of IP packet transfer and interrupts the telephone line when non- communication time of the telephone line exceeds a prescribed setting time, and communication section 12 that transmits/receives the IP packet to/from the external network under the control of the IP processing section 2. |
