The accuracy of barometric altimeters is impaired by the fact that the dependence of the ratio of altitude difference to air pressure difference on temperature is not taken into consideration. The invention relates to an altitude measuring method in which both the air pressure and temperature are measured and processed in a microcomputer to form a largely temperature-independent altitude value indication in that multiplications by temperature-dependent correction factors are effected which are derived from the known dependence of the ratio of altitude difference to air pressure difference on temperature.
