The support web is provided with a coating of glue at intervals, transversely to its longitudinal extent, the head part of the particular set of forms which is to be adhesively attached being adhesively attached by pressure at a distance behind the coating of glue, in a contact pressure zone, the sets of forms being fed with their head part leading in the direction of movement of the supporting web, and the supporting web being moved cyclically. In this arrangement, the foot part of the respective set of forms which has already been adhesively attached is to be laid on the head part of the following set of forms. In order to achieve the overlapping of the head part by the preceding foot part with identical direction of movement of the moving supporting web and of the feed of the sets of forms which are to be adhesively attached, at the end of the advance of the supporting web to, in each case, the set of forms last pressed by its head part in contact with the coating of glue, the foot part thereof is lifted relative to the supporting web and not pressed onto the coating of glue, together with the head part, until the latter has been pushed into the empty space which forms.
