PURPOSE:To prevent hunting of the engine speed due to repeated ON-OFF switching of an air pump even if the engine speed is varied, by imparting hysteresis to set value for determing whether the air pump is to be operated or not. CONSTITUTION:When the engine speed N is out of a setting range (N1<N<N2), an air pump 8 is stopped and a supercharge control valve 7 is fully opened, so that air drawn from a throttle valve 6 is carried into a surge tank 2 via an intake pipe 13 and then supplied to an engine 1. On the other hand, when the engine speed N is within the setting range (N1<N<N2), the air pump 8 is set into operation with the supercharge control valve 7 being closed, so that air drawn from the throttle valve 6 is supercharged via an intake pipe 14. Here, hysteresis having prescribed widths N5-N1-N6 and N3-N2-N4 is imparted respectively to the upper limit value N2 and the lower limit value N1 of the engine speed range. |
