PURPOSE:To accelerate a transfer rate by arranging first-fourth sliders oppositely, mounting plural magneto-optical heads on respective slider, and performing recording and reproducing corresponding to each recording area in a magneto- optical disk. CONSTITUTION:When the erasing operation of the recording areas 21a-21h divided into eight areas on the magneto-optical disk 21 is completed, four electromagnets 27-30 add an upward recording magnetic field on the magneto- optical disk 21, and a recording and reproducing means 39a supplies a recording signal to eight magneto-optical head 26a-26h, and the magneto-optical heads 26a-26h perform the recording on the recording areas 21a-21h of the magneto- optical disk 21, respectively corresponding to a signal pit (1). Meanwhile, a reproducing operation is performed in such a way that signals from the magneto-optical heads 26a-26h are synthesized and a recording signal is reproduced by the recording and reproducing means 39a. As a result, the transfer rate can be accelerated, and the recording and reproducing with high color picture quality can be performed. |
