HIV incomplete particles and a method for production thereof.

HIV incomplete particles which comprise as main constituent protein gp 120 or a gp 160-like substance and/or fragments thereof, and do not comprise or do not substantially comprise protein encoded by gag gene and/or protein encoded by pol gene are produced by culturing HIV incomplete particle-producing cells survived from HIV-infected cells and recovering the HIV incomplete particles from the culture fluid. The HIV incomplete particles have no infectivity and are expected to be effective for preventing AIDS.
