PURPOSE:To remove a range finding miss at an infinite position and to attain high accurate AF operation by adding a compensating signal independent of incident light position on a photodetecting means to an electric signal corresponding to the incident light position on the photodetecting means. CONSTITUTION:In the light projection type auto-focusing (AF) device, light projected from a projection means 1 and reflected by an object 3 is made incident upon the photodetecting means 5 and an electric signal corresponding to the incident light position to the means 5 is obtained as a photoelectric conversion output to the means 5. Since a compensating signal independent of the incident light position to the means 5 is added to the electric signal, a range finding result is gradually changed in accordance with the reduction of the quantity of incident light to the means 5 and an infinite state can be smoothly decided. Consequently, AF operation capable of executing highly accurate range finding up to a remote distance can be attained. |
