PURPOSE:To improve the magnetic permeability of the high frequency area of a magnetic core by specifying the easy-axis-directional length of a magnetic pole film which constitutes a magnetic path. CONSTITUTION:A metallic soft magnetic film which has uniaxial magnetic anisotropy is used as a magnetic pole material to constitute the thin film magnetic head which records and reproduces a signal containing frequency components of at least 1MHz so that the magnetic path direction of a magnetic circuit is almost at right angles to the easy-axis direction; and the easy-axis- directional length W of the magnetic pole film constituting the magnetic path is so determined that 0.2<=d/w<=0.3 or d/w<=0.15. Here, (d) is the interval of 180 deg. magnetic walls in the magnetic pole film. This thin film magnetic head is improved in the magnetic permeability in the high frequency area of the magnetic core. |
