<p>PURPOSE:To stabilize the traveling of a tape and to miniaturize a tape traveling system by arranging drums orthogonally with the traveling direction of the tape and scanning only a head slantingly to the tape. CONSTITUTION:An upper fixed drum 6 and a lower fixed drum 5 are fixed at coaxial positions by a fixing plate 20. A gimbals 3 has characteristics of a leaf spring, so the magnetic head 1 is movable in the axial direction of a shaft 10. The upper and lower fixed drums 6 and 5 are formed in such shapes that a cylinder is cut almost slantingly as shown by cuts 22 and 23. The magnetic head 1 records a signal pattern on the magnetic tape 19 while passing their gap 24. Thus, the drums 5 and 6 can be arranged orthogonally with the tape traveling direction. Consequently, the tape traveling is stabilized, and the drums 5 and 6 are made thin, and the number of slanting posts is decreased and the small-sized, high-reliability tape traveling system with small friction is obtained.</p> |
