PURPOSE: A video processing device and a method therefor are provided to minimize the construction cost of a video monitoring system by generating division pictures without having a quad chip and a frame memory. CONSTITUTION: A video multiplexer(30) monitors a video frame synchronous signal of each input video channel, and predicts a next synchronous generation time of each channel in a certain time. The video multiplexer combines the predicted value with video data of a corresponding video channel, generates channel-classified video packets, and multiplexes the channel-classified video packets. A multi-channel codec(40) reads a frame synchronous generation prediction value of each channel from the multiplexed channel-classified video packet, searches a video frame start point of each channel, and stores video data after the searched video frame start point in a channel-classified designation region of a memory(50). The multi-channel codec reads channel-classified video frame data stored in the channel-classified designation region, and generates a desired picture. The multi-channel codec compresses channel-classified frame data, and outputs the compressed channel-classified frame data.
