PURPOSE:To prevent wrong decision in a distribution pattern of the maximum logarithmic value in case of generating heavy knocking due to part trouble or the like, when an engine is in a low speed, by inhibiting correction of a knocking decision level when an engine speed is not more than a predetermined value. CONSTITUTION:Being based on a detection signal from a knocking sensor M1, a knocking control means M2 controls an internal combustion engine in its knocking control factor. Detecting a maximum value of the detection signal, output in this predetermined section, by a detecting means M3, a decision level correcting means M4 corrects a knocking decision level in the knocking control means M2 in a manner wherein a distribution pattern of the maximum logarithmic value obtains a predetermined pattern. Here detecting in a detecting means M5 an engine speed, when it is not more than a predetermined value, a correction inhibiting means M6 inhibits correction by the correcting means M4. Thus in case of generating heavy knocking due to part trouble or the like when the engine is in a low speed, wrong decision in the distribution pattern of the maximum logarithmic value, that is, wrong correction of the knocking decision level can be prevented. |
