PURPOSE:To smoothly increase a speed in a turbine by providing a control means which closes a bypass valve for the preset time in a transfer from an engine brake to an engine drive by the turbine. CONSTITUTION:In a transfer from an engine brake condition by reversing a turbine 4 to a normal operation condition of an engine, a bypass valve 16 is controlled so as to be forcedly closed only for the preset time. Here the preset time is given as the time (considering an exhaust pressure in an exhaust passage 3 and an increasing rate of exhaust temperature or the like) necessary in an acceleration control of engine performance and the general engine 2 from turning off a turbine brake switch to an engine drive by the turbine 4. Thus ensuring a pressure increase properly in the exhaust passage 3 supplying exhaust to the turbine 4, a smooth output increase is obtained. |
