NEW MATERIAL:A compound shown by formula I {R1-R4 are lower alkyl; R5 is group shown by formula II (n is 1-8) or group shown by formula III [m is 0-2; R8 is (substituted)phenyl]; R6 and R7 are H or lower alkyl}. EXAMPLE:Bis(p-dimethylaminostyryl)-p-benzyloxyphenylsulfonylmeth-ane. USE:Near infrared absorbing leuco dye in heat-sensitive recording and pressure- sensitive recording. PREPARATION:A compound shown by formula IV (X<1> is anion of halogen or perchloric acid) is heated with a compound shown by the formula NaSO2-R5 in a mixed solvent of methanol/acetic acid.
