The pick-up unit is connected to a tractor which has lifting forks (4) and their corresp. yoke (3). The yoke comprises two horizontal booms (10) joined to two symmetrical columns (11) via which the yoke is connected to the forks. The electrical gear (5) is fitted on a platform, on the underside of which two lift fork channels (14) extend parallel to each other. An internal combustion engine (15) is mounted on the platform, and connected to an electrical generator from which current is fed to the two electromagnet devices (6) via a control cabinet (17). Control of the magnetising and demagnetising currents is via a cable (18) connecting the control cabinet to an operating component positioned in the tractor driver location. The same cable is used to start and stop the internal combustion enging. The electromagnet devices are fitted on a cross beam (19) fixed to the underside of the two lift fork channels via chains (20). Their height above the ground surface is adjusted by means of lift arms on the tractor. |
