<p>PURPOSE:To improve safety and permit the prompt drive operation by controlling a driving means according to a special road state is detected or not during a predetermined period from the time point when an article is not detected in front of the vehicle according to the output of a road state detecting means. When the article is not detected, and a road state detecting means 5 does not detect the road condition such as the presence of a curve and obstacle during a predetermined time W1 after the above-described time point, the driving means is controlled so that the traveling speed at the time point when the article is not detected is maintained during the period W1. Further, if the above-described road state is detected during the period W1, control is performed so that the traveling speed at the time point when the article is not detected is maintained until said road state is not detected.</p> |
