PURPOSE:To provide good color reproduction, by determing the primary densities of three primary colors based on a masking calculation using selected masking matrix factors and integrating original densities, in a thermal transfer color printer. CONSTITUTION:When integrating original densities DR-DB are input, a minimum density detector 12 detects the minimum value, and a selection means 13 compare the value with a threshold value Dr and selects a masking matrix factor in a reference table memory 14 according to the comparision result. A masking processor 11 calculates each desired ink primary densities XR, XG, XB from the selected factor and integrating original densities DR, DG, DB. Since two sets of masking matrix factors, for higher and lower densities, can be selectively used, good color reproduction can be provided with a low level masking. |
