PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the interference between a radio signals transmitted from own vehicle and from another vehicle, and to report the direction of advance of own vehicle into the intersection correctly, in a vehicle mounted radio apparatus which transmits information by radio from own vehicle which is going to advance into an intersection. SOLUTION: Using a spread spectrum system, the radio apparatus which transmits radio signals judges that own vehicle with the apparatus approaches the intersection and is within a first distance from it (step 210). Based on that judgment, a spreading code corresponding to the direction of advance of the vehicle with the apparatus into the intersection is assigned, as a spreading code to be used for transmission (steps 230, 240).
