PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage of molten metal and to eliminate the restriction in the shape and size of a casting, by moving a holding furnace upward to close hermetically the top surface of the holding furnace with the bottom surface of a die plate, and lifting a lower die plate so as to be brought into tight contact with dies. CONSTITUTION:A holding furnace 2 is moved to the position right under a stalk 5, and a lower die plate 11 is lifted with a packing 25 at the top edge of the holding furnace. An upper die plate 13 is also moved downward by a hydraulic cylinder 3, and dies 1 are compressed from vertical directions as well and are brought into tight contact with the upper and lower die plates. Thereupon, a compressed gas is fed from an air feed pipe and release pipe 6 to pressurize the surface of molten metal, thereby filling the molten metal into the dies 1 through the stalk 5. When the compressed gas is released from the pipe 6 upon solidification of the molten metal in the dies 1, the unsolidified molten metal in the stalk 5 is returned into the furnace 2. If the furnace 2 is moved downward with a hydraulic cylinder 21, the top surface of the plate 11 is parted from the bottom surface of the die 1. |
