<p>PURPOSE: To restructure a non-impact printer so as to give boldface or underline output by advance-reading lines that require addition of special characters and, if necessary, by writing in the special characters on the advance line and abandoning the unnecessary lines before writing a new line. CONSTITUTION: Connected to a host mainframe computer 10 is a terminal 12, which comprises a display 14 and a keyboard 16. Connected in addition to a terminal 12 has been a personal computer(PC) 18, which consists of a system unit 20, a display 22 and a keyboard 24. Further connected to the PC 18 is a PC printer 26. Introduced to the computer 10 and the PC 18 is PROFS PC support system, under which printable data on the PC 18 is interpreted before it reaches the printer 26, stream of printing data is restructured and a non- impact printer is made possible to print boldface or underline.</p> |
