PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a panel type speaker for display device having a high excitation efficiency. SOLUTION: This panel type speaker for display device is mounted on a display device provided with a thin display unit (1), a case (2) for accommodating the unit (1), and a translucent dust-proof cover (3) provided on the front of the unit (1) and held by the case (2) at its peripheral edge. In this panel type speaker, the cover (3) is also used as a diaphragm (3) of the panel type speaker, this diaphragm (3) consists of a thick peripheral edge (3a) and a thin part (3b) of the inside, and the thin part (3b) of this diaphragm (3) is excited by an exciter (4) arranged closely to thick peripheral edge (3a) of this diaphragm (3).
