A safety binding for sports equipment comprises two binding units each comprising a toe part and a heel part, which are mounted at a distance apart on the equipment and mechanically connected to each other so as to ensure simultaneous release. To permit the release of both ski boots from the sports equipment in the event of a fall, at least one of the toe parts and heel parts (103, 103', 104, 104') of the binding units (102) is connected to the ski booot (S1) via a holding element (114, 114a) which is engaged by elastic pre-loading and released when subjected to an excess load. The holding element (114, 114a) is mounted in a guiding element and held in the engaged position by a locking pin (118) which can be controlled by the holding element (114', 114a) of the other binding unit (102') elastically pre-loaded in the engaged position. |
