Process for separating off and recovering chlorofluorocarbons from mixtures of chlorofluorocarbons and other gases

To prevent an excessive emission of chlorofluorocarbons in industrial production processes, e.g. in their use as a propellent gas in foamed plastic production or as an insulating gas in the electrical industry, and their simultaneous recovery for reuse, the mixture of chlorofluorocarbon and other gases, e.g. air, is drawn in by suction and compressed. With simultaneous compression and cooling, the chlorofluorocarbon contents are liquefied and thus separated from the remaining mixture. The remaining non-condensable gases are given off to the surroundings via an automatic venting device. The recovered chlorofluorocarbon has a high degree of purity and can be reused. The emission of chlorofluorocarbons hazardous to health and the environment can be reduced to a minimum. The process can be applied to all chlorofluorocarbons, even those having a very low boiling point, since for each of these media the condensation temperatures and condensation pressures associated with it can be established exactly.
