A hand organ with a bellows or similar wind mechanism mounted in an organ housing and a number of air outlets acted upon thereby, each of which is assigned a playing key which can be pivoted away from its air outlet and is controlled by a governing mechanism, is to be improved with regard to its structure and sound. To this end, the playing key (58) is assigned at least one tuning reed (70) and this is arranged so as to be activatable, in the pivoted-away operating position of the playing key, by air or the like passing through, to generate a sound, the tuning reed being mounted in a reed space (63) with an air hole which can be freed by the playing key, which space is acted upon by air separately from a valve housing (42) having the air outlet (53). The air outlet (53) of the valve housing (42) is to be part of an air guide (52) which, with one arm (52a), is on the one hand connected to the inner space (43) of the valve housing (42) and on the other hand opens outside the same. <IMAGE>
