In multiprocessor systems, memory addressing by the user is often done by mechanical switches or by programming of logic elements. If the system configuration changes, this requires resetting the address ranges, and resetting is also required in the case of a fault. So that memory addressing can be automatic to a large extent, the master processor generates the group start address for the first memory of the slave processors, which are combined into at least one group. The slave processor adds a defined memory area size to the group start address, and thus generates the end address for this memory. This end address is in turn the start address for the next slave processor of the group.
