According to the invention, a novel device for the dynamic inner pressure testing of gun barrels is proposed, in which an initial liquid pressure pulse, generated by the sudden loading of a piston, serves, with regard to its distance-dependent pressure drop, as testing pressure. The device (10) essentially comprises a test chamber (24) filled with a hydraulic medium, in which the gun barrel to be tested (44) is arranged hanging upright and supported on a support edge (49) of an inner tube (26). A falling mass (84) acting on a striker (70) generates a pressure pulse in the hydraulic medium in a cylinder space (58) in front of a piston (82) connected to the striker (70), this pressure pulse being used, by means of a controlled pressure drop, as dynamic test pressure in an annular space (52) formed between the inner tube (26) and the gun barrel (44). <IMAGE>
