Arrangement for exciting an H21 wave in a coaxial line

It is intended to excite the H21 wave in the annular cross-section of the jacketing waveguide of a coaxial aerial. The coaxial aerial consists of a central round waveguide (which is supplied with the H11 wave) as the inner conductor (1) and an outer conductor (2) surrounding it in the form of a ring, the inner conductor (1) being terminated like a pot towards the aperture and the outer conductor (2) towards the feed end by in each case one radial, metallic separating wall. To this end, four slots (3), (4), (5), (6) running in the axial direction are incorporated in the wall of the inner conductor (1), separated by mutual angular intervals of 90@. Half of the circular cross-section of the inner conductor (1) is filled with a dielectric (7). The separating surface of the dielectric (7) runs at right angles to the electrical vector of the H11 wave and can be covered by a metallic separating wall (11) (Fig. 2). <IMAGE>
