Apparatus and process for the production of a fibre pad

A pad (45) is formed by bringing separate fibre materials (30, 32) into contact with two separate card rollers (10, 20) which are arranged parallel to one another and which are rotatable in opposite directions to one another. The fibres from the two card rollers (10, 20) are guided through a mixing zone (40) and collected in pocket moulds (402) which are moved on a conveying screen (42) running parallel to the axes of the card rollers (10, 20). A deflecting plate (60) can be inserted into the mixing zone (40) and is effective for influencing the lateral or cross-sectional composition of a cloth formed by fibres collected in the moulds. If different fibre materials are fed to the card rollers along the latter, the vertical composition of the cloth is changed. As a result of the pockets in the moulds, the pads are produced as individually shaped products (Figure 1). <IMAGE>
