The invention relates to a method for interference-free location of missiles against a background having a high static element (low frequency) using a reference radiator as a transmitter of optical radiation (high frequency), which is modulated, a receiver for the optical radiation having a flat reception field being used to determine the position of the missile, which receiver is constructed as a detector array having a large number of elements of different size, which are arranged such that their size reduces towards the centre and such that each of the elements is connected by means of a dedicated amplifier channel to a filter which selectively passes on for processing only those modulated signals related to the missile.
