The invention relates to an incorporated or integrated tearing thread (= opening mechanism) along an edge of a letter in an envelope of any size, having the possibility of separating said envelope without difficulty along the edge of the letter provided for this purpose. With this envelope with an incorporated letter opener, clean opening of the envelope is possible at any time without a separate letter opener and without the contents being damaged.
