TILT DRIVE FOR METALLURGICAL VESSELS

The tilt drive is for a metallurgical vessel mounted on a large sprocket wheel via the rocker pin, the gear being housed in a casing. At least two pinion gears rotate the sprocket wheel and a separate reduction gear drives each of the pinion gears. A separate drive motor selectively drives each of the reduction gear mechanisms. Torque-equalising and pinion gear locking mechanism comprises a lever arm, one end rotatably secured to the shaft carrying the reduction gear, the bar being pivotable about the other end. Bar transmits and equalises torque between paired levers connected to the shafts. Longitudinal extension of the bar is a piston for cylinder attached to the gear casing, as locking mechanism.
