In a tool (3) for pulling fuel rods (1) out of a fuel rod assembly (2), having a gripping device actuated via a cone, a plurality of conical openings (5) are arranged in a mounting plate (4) at a distance (A) from the fuel rods (1) in the fuel rod assembly (2). Conical jaws (6) having an inner contour (14) matched to the fuel rods (1) sit in the openings (5). By means of a drive element (10) engaging on the mounting plate (4), the jaws (6) are pressed on with a movement of the mounting plate (4) in the one direction (17), while with a movement of the mounting plate (4) with the jaws (6) in the opposite direction (18), the fuel rods (1) are pulled jointly out of the fuel rod assembly (2). <IMAGE>
