In order to reinforce a chain-connecting member (1), a two-part surround (5) is mounted thereon. The surround (5) is in the form of a casing, but with two angular incisions (6; 7) on two front sides. Here, there is space for the through-passage of the joining members (18; 19) and pivoting freedom for said joining members. In all other respects, the surround, however, holds the chain-connecting member (1) together, particularly at the two ends of the wire piece from which it is bent. The two parts are held together by a plug-in connection (12) which engages through the chain-connecting member (1). <IMAGE>
