A load hook assembly comprises a bearing race (13) mounted on the shank (2) of an hook (1). The race (13) has a rolling surface (14) which is engaged by rolling members (5) disposed in an annular groove (6) formed on the shank (2). The bearing race (13) is held in place on the shank (2) by a snap ring (7) received in a second annular groove (8) on the shank. The bearing race (13) and shank (2) are then located between the two parts of an housing (9) which are secured together to complete the assembly. <IMAGE>
