In ozone generators, high limiting concentrations can be achieved if ignition delays and thus the pulsing of the discharge are avoided. It is proposed that the pulsing of the discharge be avoided by coating at least one of the two surfaces (2, 4) forming the boundary of the discharge gap (1) of the ozone generator with a thin layer (5, 6) having a high secondary emission coefficient, e.g. with MgO. <IMAGE>
