Apparatus for smoothing a mandrel bar

After the machining operation, the mandrel bar 1 is guided through a supporting tube 2 that can be set in rotation. This supporting tube 2 has two longitudinal slots 4 in each of which a respective rocker lever 5 is pivotably mounted on a transverse pivot 6. Each rocker lever 5 has a smoothing tool 7 at one end and a centrifugal weight 8 at the other end. When the supporting tube 2 is rotated, the smoothing tools 7 are pressed against the mandrel bar 1 by the centrifugal force of the weights 8 and work upon the latter in a helical pattern over its entire length. <IMAGE>
