The automatic anti-skid chain which is provided with internal gripping webs and corner edges is located in symmetric zigzag recesses which are calculated to match the size of the tyre and the elevated profile of the vehicle tyre and lie all around the tread and is held attached at many points to the inner rim by chain tensioning connecting elements at the zigzag ends by lever transmission with triangular chain tensioning structures located in a pivotable fashion in the tyre shoulder profile by lever transmission and is also taughtly tensioned on the outside of the rim but by means of tensioning rollers with controllable lengths of chain and tensioning cable, and is secured at three securing levels by means of electric transmission motor and spring force by the chain tensioning ring which is rotatably mounted in the rim space. When the road is iced up, the chain tensioning ring which is under spring pressure is released when travelling by means of an electromagnetic remote trigger and lever linkages, the tensioning rollers which are attached in an advancing fashion are relaxed and the external angles of the chain tensioning connecting elements which are provided with spikes rotate onto the elevated profile of the tyre by approximately 50 % of the chain which becomes longer by means of oval connectors. When this trigger is actuated once more, the zigzag structure of the chain becomes flattened by increased tension of the following-on tensioning rollers, the said structure becomes longer and is thrown, held precisely in its entirety, onto the tread of the tyre and becomes fastened tight at securing level III.
