PURPOSE:To provide an optical fiber array head, the end faces of which are highly resistant to wear and which are not deteriorated in light transmission performance even after long-period use by providing the cured films of a crosslinkable resin material to the end faces of the above-mentioned head. CONSTITUTION:The optical fiber array head is produced by arraying the ends on one side of 100-10,000 pieces of multiple optical fibers made of plastic having 5-200mum diameter to a line shape and integrating the ends on the other side to a rectangular shape. The cured film 4, 5 of the crosslinkable resin are formed on the end faces of the aggregated parts 2. A material essentially consisting of a comp. having >=2 polymerizable groups in one molecule, for example, a material essentially consisting of organosilane having >=2 alkoxy groups in one molecule, is used as the material of the films 4, 5. As a result, the end faces which decreases the unequal quantity of light and have the excellent wear resistance are obtd. and the deterioration in the light transmission performance even after long-period use is obviated. |
