<p>67369-458 Process for copolymerization of vinylpyrrolidone and maleic anhydride in the presence of organic solvent, catalyst and between about 0.1 and 1.0 weight % water. The use of small controlled amounts of water in an otherwise anhydrous process has a significant influence on the molecular weight of the resulting poly(vinylpyrrolidone-maleic anhydride) copolymer product. In general the molecular weight of the copolymer is inversely proportional to the weight of water added. Hence copolymers of varying molecular weights can be made by varying the amount of water used.</p> |
