The ultra sound diagnosis instrument comprises a transducer connected to an elongated transmission tube through which current carrying conductors are brought. The scanner is introduced into a sterilising liq. in a container and during sterilising, the scanner is subjected to a leak resistance test. The sterilisation fluid is electrically conductive, and there is a voltage source and a leak resistance meter joined between an electrode in contact with the liq. and the scanner conductors. During measurement, the conductors are shorted. The transducer is surrounded by a thin walled protective tube, which is also subjected to the test during sterilisation.
