METHOD AND DEVICE FOR CURING THICK ARTICLE

PURPOSE: To enable to supply a desired cure equivalent while a tire is still in curing within a mold utilizing a delay time in curing of tire by replacing hot liquid with cold one without releasing high pressure of the curing fluid. CONSTITUTION: A tire 10 is cured in a mold 30 containing upper mold member 34 and lower one that is a mirror image of the former. Immediately before the two mold members are pressed each other, an inflatable bladder 36 is inserted inside the tire 10. Pressured hot liquid is used for conducting heat to the inner face of the tire. Hot liquid is water at a temperature in the range from about 121 deg.C to about 260 deg.C and at a pressure of at least 790 kPa. The hot water is replaced with water of lower temperature in ambience but at the same pressure as the hot water. The water circulates by letting in through an entrance 50 of the bladder and out through an exit 52. By controlling temperature and pressure of the water and time at each point of a cycle as usual, the required number of cure equivalents at the point of least cure is supplied.
