The system accurately effects required cutter deceleration without requiring voltage wires on a master. The system comprises a memory storing the coordinates (A1, A2, A3...D'1, D'2) of areas where cutter deceleration is necessary (A,B,C,D). A computer calculates coordinates of interpolated points (F1, F2) in these areas. Its output is constantly compared with the deceleration area memory content to determine when to effect deceleration. Input to the deceleration area memory is effected by keyboard if the required coordinates are known or by running a stylus over the master if the coordinates are not known.
