PURPOSE: To separate an Al-Li alloy from a scrap mixture composed of, for example, the Al-Li alloy and other worker Al alloys by executing the physical sepn. of flat Al alloy particles based on differences in particle sizes and differences in electrical conductivity or density. CONSTITUTION: The scrap mixture 10 composed of, for example, the Al-Li alloy and the other worked Al alloys is heat treated, is crushed with a shredder 12 and is formed to the flat particles by a roll crusher 13. These particles are transferred to an eddy current separator 14 and are separated to the small flat particles consisting of the Al-Li alloy and the large flat particles consisting of the other worked Al alloys. Namely, the eddy current separator 14 generates an eddy current by a rotary permanent magnet 24. The magnet 24 exerts force on the particles of the large sizes having the good electrical conductivity and moves the particles up to a side part 22a across the surface of a vibration separator table 21. The particles of the small sizes inferior in the electrical conductivity are moved along a straightforward flow passages along the side part of the surface 22. |
