<p>PURPOSE:To form a metal carrier having a configuration similar to a equilateral hexagon, by inserting a honeycomb-shaped base frame wherein very thin corrugated stainless steel sheets and flat plates are superposed alternately with each other into a heat resisting steel tube, forming thereby an outer cylinder for the honeycomb-shaped base frame. CONSTITUTION:Very thin corrugated plates and flat plates of stainless steel are superposed or wound alternately with each other to form a base frame 1 having a honeycomb shape. The base frame 1 is inserted into a heat resisting tube or is encircled by a heat resisting plate, after which said heat resisting plate is welded to form an outer cylinder 3 for the honeycomb-shaped base frame. After easily meltable wires 2 are inserted into spaces formed within the outer cylinder 3, both ends of the base frame 1 are closed with steel materials, following which the sectional area of said base frame 1 is reduced to less than 1/4 of the original sectional area by application of hot working. Thereafter said base frame is cut to a predetermined length and further the easily meltable wires 2 are removed by application of chemical or electrochemical treatment to manufacture a honeycomb base frame for automobile exhaust gas purifier.</p> |
