Where an electrical supply is not available for the electromagnetic release for the trigger of a weapon such as an automatic cannon, an auxiliary hydraulic system is used instead of a conventional spring. The system includes a manual pump (32) for pressurising a hydraulic storage vessel (34) and two control switches (36, 37) operated by a foot pedal (38). The switches are connected by a line (33) to the vessel and an output line (43) to a piston and cylinder device controlling the firing of a shot. ADVANTAGE - System allows weapon to be used in emergency.
