PURPOSE:To enhance image density, thin line reproduction performance, and gradation by specifying the particle diameter distribution of a magnetic toner comprising at least a binder resin and a magnetic powder. CONSTITUTION:The magnetic toner has a particle diameter distribution comprising 17-60 number % particles of <=5mum diameters, 1-23 number % particles of 8-12.7mum diameters, and <=2.0vol.% particles of >=16mum diameters. It has a volume average particle diameter of 4-9mum, and the particle fraction of <=5mum diameters has a particle diameter distribution satisfying the expression I, where N is the content (number %) of the particles of <=5mum diameters, being 17-60 number %, V is that of the particles of >=5mum diameters, and k is a positive number of 4.5-6.5, thus permitting the obtained magnetic toner to reproduce a latent image down to thin lines in high fidelity, and to form an image superior in gradation and resolution. |
