The compsn. comprises filler made of amorphous coke, predominantly crystalline graphite, and lamp black burned beforehand at 800 degs. C, or a mixt. of these materials. The mixt. (50-72 percent) is blended with 50-28 percent of binder made up of e.g. petroleum pitch wiht a minimum wetting point of 80 (K.S). Prodn. by supplementary homogenising is based on kneading-rolling cycles followed by granulation to below 125 mm, pressing and firing at a max. heat gradient of 10 degs. C/h, with elimination of impregnation and re-firing.
